What’s Your New Year’s Resolution?

It’s a new year, which means a fresh start with new goals. There are many stats out there about how many people make resolutions – are you one of them? Our New Year goals here at Westminster Technologies are to help with your specific assistive technology needs.

Assessments, Professional Development, & Webinars, Oh My!

Assistive technology assessments are on the rise – trust us, we know all too well! We contract with several regional education agencies and districts, and this school year has already shown record requests. Beyond offering third-party assessments, which some organizations require, we also train your team to conduct assessments to provide stellar AT services.

In 2005, DeCoste, Reed, and Kaplan[1] researched the main issues reported by assistive technology teams. No matter the size or makeup of the team, they all expressed similar issues. Can you guess one of the top concerns?

If you guessed training, you must be psychic! It didn’t matter the size of the district or organization – training was a common problem. Unfortunately, special education staff is often not provided with ongoing professional development opportunities in assistive technology. This may be due to not knowing where to find training. Our RESNA ATP provides customized training opportunities to meet your team’s needs.

Do you have trouble keeping up with all the assistive technology available? We are back to offering our monthly device demo webinars. But it’s not all about the devices. It’s also about how to implement and use them. So, keep an eye out for our Webinar Wednesday invitations.
